Congress and Left parties in Tripura organized a massive rally in Agartala demanding protection of voters' rights. Activists lined up with the national flag in a three-kilometer-long demonstration. It is suggested that the Congress and the Left, who were once fierce rivals, have joined forces to face the ruling BJP-IPFT alliance. Political observers are keenly watching the February 16 assembly elections to see if the Congress and the Left parties will contest in an alliance.
It was also notable that the rally was not under the banner of Left parties or Congress, with slogans of "My vote, my right". Apart from political leaders, the presence of social workers, senior citizens etc. was noticeable. The participants of the rally also raised the demand for free and fair elections.
