Kerala News 11-guest worker: Guest portal registration started; The inspection of the camps continues



 The process of registering all guest workers under the labor department has started in the state. 5706 workers across the state have registered on the guest portal and completed the procedures. Labor Commissioner Arjun Pandian informed that the registration will be intensified in the coming days. More officers will be appointed for this purpose. The commissioner also said that he would seek the help of other departments and volunteers. The commissioner visited the registration camp organized at the construction site in Thiruvananthapuram.

 Workers, employers and contractors have taken a creative approach to guest portal registration. A guest mobile app designed to make guest worker registration even easier is under finalization. With the implementation of the guest app, besides camps, construction sites and labor department offices, a direct approach will be taken to each guest worker, the commissioner said.

  Guest workers, their contractors and employers can also register workers. The name information should be registered using the mobile number on the portal athidhi.lc.kerala.gov.in. Instructions are available in local languages on the portal. The Enrolling Officer will verify the personal details provided and issue a unique ID to the worker.

Following the urgent directive of Labor Minister V Sivankutty to inspect all the labor camps in the state and ensure that the operation is satisfactory and complaint-free, the inspection and measures which started on August 2 are continuing. So far, inspections have been completed in 425 camps and work sites. 11229 workers are found working here.

Inspections conducted under the Contract Labor Act, the Foreign Workers Act and the Building and Other Construction Workers Act have issued notices for violations of unlicensed and unregistered activities, failure to maintain proper registers and lack of adequate safety measures, as well as the removal of workers housed in unsanitary conditions. The inspection will continue in the coming days. Additional Labor Commissioner KM Sunil, Joe Labor Commissioner KS Biju and District Labor Officer Brijit Jose also accompanied the commissioner.
